Grade 5- Sovereign Hill Excursion

In Term 3, Grade 5 students learned about significant events which shaped Australia’s history, in particular, the Australian Gold Rush. On Wednesday the 7th September, the Grade 5 students, along with teachers and parents, travelled to Sovereign Hill, Ballarat.

Students participated in a variety of activities which gave them a taste of what life was like on the Goldfields in the 1850s – some even struck gold!
Students enjoyed panning for gold, touring through an underground mine, practicing calligraphy, participating in an educational session, viewing a gold pouring demonstration and of course, purchasing the world-famous ‘raspberry drops’ from the lolly shop.
Thank you to the parents and staff who assisted on the day and made the excursion an enjoyable experience for all!
