Grade 5 and 6 STEM incursion!

On Thursday the 18th of July, the Grade 5 and 6 students participated in a STEM incursion run by Emilie the STEM leader from Scienceworks.

The students learnt about electricity and how it is used in everyday life. Using this knowledge learnt, the students explored Makey Makey kits. A Makey Makey kit is an electronic invention tool/toy that allows users to connect everyday objects to computer programs. Using a circuit board, alligator clips and a USB cable, the toy uses closed loop electrical signals to send messages to the computer by either a keyboard stroke or mouse click signal.

The students tested materials that conduct/insulate electricity using the kits and the Program called Scratch on their Macbooks. The incursion was enjoyed by all students.
