The Preps have been learning about the Parable of the Good Shepherd through Godly Play.
Godly Play is a teaching strategy that helps children to deepen their learning, wonderings and understandings of Scripture stories. Through Godly Play, the children developed the understanding that Jesus is our Good Shepherd and just as a shepherd knows and loves all his sheep, Jesus knows and loves us all.
Children were given the opportunity to reflect upon their learning and wonderings through different mediums. Children chose to make stick puppets, models, constructions and drawings as a way of responding to the parable. Some children chose to use the Godly Play materials and retell the parable to a friend. All the children were actively engaged in their response to the parable and were keen to share with one another their creations.
